Our Story

Emily Cooper
Registered Dietitian....
I am Emily Cooper, a registered dietitian and the founder of PowerThru Nutrition. My passion and love of both food and strongman/strongwoman have come together to dispel the nutrition myths that appear online and to help athletes reach their full potential through real foods without compromising on food enjoyment.
My Journey
I started off my career training and working as a chef after leaving school. After years of feeding people, I decided to retrain to become a dietitian; to help people improve their health through food. I completed a BSc (Hons) Dietetics degree at Plymouth University and started working for the NHS. I have worked in the NHS since 2021 with people at risk of malnutrition, people living with diabetes and in the acute hospital wards with people who require tube feeding following a stroke. I am now studying a post graduate certificate in sports and exercise nutrition.
After supporting my husband in strongman competitions, I decided to get involved myself and got the bug! It became clear early on that a lot of nutritional information put out there, especially aimed at strength athletes, is often incorrect and at times dangerous. The message that your diet has to consist of chicken, rice and broccoli to succeed, greatly upset me due to my love of food! PowerThru Nutrition was born with the aim of showing you that peak performance and a varied, enjoyable diet do exist together.

The Full Picture
I live with my husband, son and 3 dogs. When I am not involved with food (either cooking, eating or working!) or at the gym, I am usually either spending time with my family or competing in dog agility with my dogs. We enjoy camping in our motorhome and are always looking for new countryside spots which are worth a visit.
